Create a memorable T-shirt produced via silk-screen printing in a small run of only a few dozen. The piece was to commemorate a group trip taken to the Black Sea to view a total solar eclipse.

For this, the back of the T-shirt, I designed what could be described as a kind of information graphic. The shape in blue outline is a map of the Black Sea, and the cross-hair shows the location of the ship for the eclipse event. I developed the "diamond ring" image that surrounds the map from a photo taken of that eclipse. I reduced the photo to something that could be printed using only black, white, and red ink while allowing for the vagaries of registration when using silk-screen on fabric.

Provide a map to the venue on the back of a business-related event invitation.

I created this in Adobe Illustrator, using key font elements and the soft landform treatment to integrate the graphic with the rest of the invitation. I was responsible for all direction, design and execution.

Present a fairly complex conceptual model in a visual, accessible manner that accurately reflects the model. I needed to produce many information graphics, precluding some more illustrative design approaches.

I analyzed and discussed the concept model with its author at some length, developing sketches and refining the diagram to visually convey various relationships within the model (discussed in accompanying text not shown), both reflecting and helping to clarify the author's own conceptualization.

Create a series of visual aids to be used in presentations to existing and potential clients. The concepts were fairly technical in nature, and these illustrations are designed as hard-copy pieces for one-to-one or very small-group use, rather than PowerPoint-type presentations, which need to be much simpler to be useful.

I created a set of simple elements used iteratively in this and related pages, intended to support and reinforce my client's messages focusing on the economies and scalability of his solutions. These solutions were geared to provide small businesses with a low threshold to mounting a web presence and commerce, while giving them a clear path to grow that presence and commerce capacity as their businesses grew. My client was pleased with the results and felt they were successful in helping him meet his goals. I created this in Adobe Illustrator.

I analyzed the data and designed charts, graphs, and diagrams of various kinds to make the stories buried in the data as clear as possible, always diligent to avoid techniques that could distort or obscure the truth of the data. I created the graphic in Adobe Illustrator and did the page layout in Adobe InDesign.
