Original Liz website
problem
The client's existing website was built is a manner that was very difficult to update and was also very opaque to search-engines.
solution
I built an entirely new site for her using the Drupal open-source CMS platform, driven by PHP and MySQL. She could then very easily edit and update her site using any web browser, even a web-capable cell phone. Images were automatically resized as needed, and the item descriptions were fully searchable. Item photos were zoomable to hi-res originals. Her event listings for upcoming shows would automatically expire from the site when the event is past. She was very pleased with how easy her site was then to update, such that she could then make a piece, photograph it, put it on her site, and move on to the next piece.

Live From The Left Coast radio show website
problem
A new radio program required a site around which to build a listener community and deliver podcasts and related content. The site requires streaming audio for a number of items.
solution
I designed and developed this site using the Drupal open-source CMS platform, driven by PHP and MySQL. Podcasts are provided via a Flash widget for online listening. The layout and formatting throughout is pure CSS. I created the graphic elements using Adobe CS3 apps. The site is fully interactive and in ongoing development with user accounts, blogs, forums, polls, and assorted other dynamic functionality.

problem
Non-profit needed new management for their website.
solution
I took over management of this existing website. I did a near-complete rebuild of the site to upgrade it to current web standards of CSS layout and formatting. I created some of the graphics on the site and managed all the numerous photos and other site assets.
note

The live site is no longer the one I managed.

nonprofit website

Camp Myrtlewood website
problem
This church-owned group camp serves a wide variety of community and private groups, both secular and faith-oriented. They needed a site that would work well for visitors who might have very modest computer equipment and connections, to help people find the camp and learn more about how they might make use of the facilities and the beautiful setting.
solution
I did all the design, development, and provide ongoing updates for this site, including all the related maps and PDF documents. I sought to reflect the camp experience in the palette and imagery used. Camp users have found the site to be very helpful and easy to use. In the spring of '09 I rebuilt the site from the ground up using the Drupal open-source CMS platform, driven by PHP and MySQL. I developed the site's appearance starting from the bare-bones Zen theme. The site is fully interactive with camper accounts, member-uploaded photo galleries, forums, polls, and assorted other dynamic functionality.

Additional note: the current site is no longer the site I built. It's now a Wordpress site mainly maintained by others.

Jules of Morocco boutique site
problem
This clothing designer and retailer needed to create a web presence to help market her line of unique Moroccan-inspired designs. Her line includes over 140 items and is growing. She wanted to move to full ecommerce when she was ready for that.
solution
I designed and developed all aspects of this site, with the exception of the photography and line drawings (although I created the final versions of those elements as well). I wanted to convey something of the atmosphere of Morocco in the design, with a distinctive and somewhat atypical home page. The site was almost pure CSS layout, and all of the "Original Designs" catalog pages are dynamically created with PHP and MySQL. When the client was ready, the design would readily support the addition of a shopping cart and all the other components of full ecommerce.

splash-style home page

splash-style home page
problem
Develop a splash-screen style home page layout for a B2B services corporation, conveying a theme of monetary growth. The company offers services such as methodologies for very granular metrics development and modeling relevant to a corporation's business processes, to enable quantitative feedback on the effects of changes to those business processes.
solution
I designed the logo based on the idea of quarter-to-quarter growth in a cyclical fashion, with markers along the way to measure that growth. The "arrow graph" is intended to convey the simple idea of monetary growth, with the gridwork below meant to suggest precision. I conceived and produced all graphics in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop and produced the HTML code.
